Moneda at the ALAS20 Awards

The results of the 2020 Sustainable Leader Agenda (ALAS20) were disclosed on January 15th. Moneda was a winner in all institutional investor categories.

ALAS20 is a content agenda that aims to drive sustainable development in Latin America through business management and investment decisions, which are effective ways to achieve a sustainable, equitable and inclusive world.  The awards are given annually and companies, investors and professionals participate who are known for their leadership in sustainability and responsible investment.

Antonio Gil Nievas remarked about Moneda’s achievements: “The initiatives that have earned us this recognition consist of being true to our investment principles, through a basic analysis oriented towards the long term.  We include corporate governance, social and environmental sustainability in the analysis so as to identify risks that companies may have as well as their competitive advantages leveraged on those factors.  We have human and technological resources dedicated to this type of analysis. In addition, we use ongoing dialogue to ask companies systematically and profoundly about their practices in these matters.”

He added that: “We want investments to be sustainable to the benefit of our investors.  We invest to obtain the best risk-adjusted returns for our investors sustainable in the long term. That is why we have to be sure that wherever we invest, we are investing in the best. Our challenge is to systematize the information that we receive from companies and integrate it in a better way so that our analysis is complete.”

The awards received by Moneda were:

Leading Institution in Responsible Investment

Leading Institution in Corporate Governance

Leading Institution in Sustainability Research

CEO of Leading Institution in Responsible Investment: Antonio Gil Nievas

ALAS20 was held in Chile for the fifth consecutive year, for the fourth year in Peru and in Colombia, and for the third year in Brazil and Mexico.
