PRI and Moneda hold a seminar on ESG in Credit Risk and Ratings

On March 22nd, Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), sponsored by Moneda Asset Management, held the "ESG in Credit Risk and Ratings" seminar, aimed at credit risk analysts and portfolio managers. The purpose was to analyze the benefits, challenges and barriers of including environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors.

The attendees were representatives from Credit Rating Agencies (CRA) such as Fitch Ratings, Moody's Investor Services and S&P Global Ratings, who answered questions about how to take these factors into account in formulating credit rating opinions. There was also a panel of institutional investors who discussed the current state of responsible investment in the country and in Latin America;  their members were Daniel Vargas, MAM Portfolio Manager, and executives from Compass Group, LarraínVial and Zurich.

The seminar focused on gathering opinions from professionals and on improving dialogue between investors and rating agencies to thus contribute to the next phase of PRI’s ESG in Credit Ratings Initiative that is supported by more than 147 institutional investors and 18 CRAs around the world.
