Moneda is the first asset manager in Chile to become a signatory of the UN-supported PRI
Moneda Asset Management is the first investment manager in Chile, and second in the Southern Cone, to become a signatory of the UN-supported Principles of Responsible Investment (¨PRI”), an organization that promotes responsible and sustainable investments.
By adhering to this agreement, Moneda undertakes to follow the PRI, which focuses on promoting responsible investment through its six principles related to the incorporation of ESG (environmental, social and governance) issues in investment decisions and promoting the dissemination and adoption of practices related to these topics within companies. According to a study by consulting firm McKinsey & Co., approximately 26% of global professionally-managed assets follow ESG principles.
“With nearly 25 years as an active investor committed to sustainability and our clients and team, we are very proud to become a signatory of the Principles of Responsible Investment”, said Pablo Echeverría, Moneda’s founding partner and president. “Asset management is our sole business, and as a signatory of PRI, we commit to further strengthen our good practices and commitment to sustainable and long term-oriented investments”, he added.
PRI’s international network of signatories works jointly to implement various actions in pursuit of the incorporation of its principles in the strategy and operations of companies and to disseminate these good practices within the regions in which they operate.
“We are delighted to welcome Moneda Asset Management to the PRI” said CEO Fiona Reynolds. “As the first asset manager in Chile to sign up to the PRI, we think this sends a very important signal to other investment managers in the region of the importance of building sustainability into the investment decision making process.”
